Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA) is a national body comprising Cystic Fibrosis (CF) state organisations. CFA develops national fundraising events, educational programs, collects and distributes information on CF and undertakes lobbying and advocacy at national and international levels. This allows member organisations to focus on supplying quality health and welfare services to children and young adults living with CF and their families.
A major task of the national office is to secure the funds and professional expertise necessary to conduct research into CF, its cause and eventual cure. The research program is conducted through the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust (ACFRT), which operates within the CFA corporate structure.
CFA receives no government funding, relying on fundraising events such as 65 Roses Day, The Great Escape Car Rally and donations to fund major projects.
Another major focus for CFA is the Cystic Fibrosis National Data Registry (NDR). The NDR is a complete statistical record of all people in Australia with CF. The registry enables us to care for people who suffer from CF and to monitor disease progression and morality on a national scale. This also involves genetic research and allows study into the impact of new treatments and technology. The registry also assists multi-centre trials, nationally and internationally.
CFA represents and promotes the interests of people with CF, their families and carers by:

“My life has been personally touched by CF and as Ambassador for Cystic Fibrosis Australia I want to encourage everyone to support this year’s 65 Roses Day. Raised funds will go towards vital research and creating a better quality of life for those living with CF.”
